Rime Takes Over La Défense

Thanks to an initiative by Claude Kunetz, his gallerist for over a decade, this iconic figure of the American post-graffiti scene is—finally—back in Paris. The first stop is a 25-day residency at the Zoo Art Show in La Défense, during which he will create an immersive installation. This project stems from a very personal experience of the New York artist: transforming his father’s apartment over nearly three years to “add color to his living space.” The 30-square-meter room will, in turn, be transformed into a total work of art—walls, floors, ceilings, furniture… A new masterpiece in this exhibition space, which offers urban artists a 4,000-square-meter playground.

Rime’s stay in Paris also provides an opportunity for the Wallworks Gallery to organize a solo show featuring original works, some created in the United States and others painted during his artist residency. Passionate about spirituality and meditation, Rime has spent much of the past five years on a road trip across the United States in a camper van. It was an opportunity for him to meet other artists, but above all to reflect on his place in the world and his relationship with himself, others, nature, and the Earth. From this personal odyssey, Rime returned with renewed energy, which is evident in the title he chose: Happening To Me, Happening Through Me. What happens to us passes through us… and transforms us.
